Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R Competitive Comparison
The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R multifunction copier competes with the HP LaserJet Enterprise M750N and the Xerox Phaser 7100DN. All are competent, high speed color printers designed for busy workgroups, however, there are a few differences between these popular business printers. Which is the best value? Let’s take a look.
Multifunctionality
Both the HP LaserJet and the Xerox Phaser are printer only models whereas the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R is an all-in-one unit with a printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine. This added functionality translates into convenience, space savings, and cost savings since one piece of office equipment does the work of four.
Monthly Page Volume
Each printer has a recommended monthly page volume, which is the number of pages you can reasonably expect to the printer to print in a month based on nearly continuous usage. For the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R, the monthly page volume is up to 10,000 pages. For the HP LaserJet Enterprise M750N, the monthly page volume is slightly higher at 13,000 pages. For the Xerox Phaser 7100DN, the monthly page volume is 8,000 pages.
Print Speed
All three printers are fast, which is a must in an office environment. The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R has an ISO print speed of 24 pages per minute for both black and color. The HP LaserJet Enterprise M750N and the Xerox Phaser 7100DN both print 30 pagers per minute. As far as first page out time, the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R is 40 percent faster than its competitors. The Epson’s first page out tie is just 6.0 seconds for mono and 6.5 seconds for color whereas the HP is 10 seconds for both and the Xerox is 9 seconds for mono and 11 seconds for color. This means the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R starts printing the documents much faster than the other two.
Print Technology
It’s important to note that both the HP LaserJet and Xerox Phaser are laser-based whereas the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R is an inkjet powered by Epson PrecisionCore technology. This technology delivers high speed, high resolution full color documents.
Supply Yields
While laser cartridges are often thought of as lasting longer than your typical inkjet cartridge, Epson is changing this perception with its Replaceable Ink Pack System (RIPS). In fact, the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R has a dramatically higher supply yield than the other two printers combined. For example, the Epson’s black ink pack is rated to supply 86,000 pages while the HP LaserJet yields just 13,500 pages and the Xerox Phaser yields just 10,000 pages. The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R’s color page yield is 84,000 pages while the HP LaserJet yields just 15,000 pages and the Xerox Phaser yields 9,000 pages.
Energy Consumption
Another important consideration is energy consumption with one printer outshining them all by a large number. Both the HP LaserJet and the Xerox Phaser consume a lot of energy while printing, 677 watts and 660 watts respectively. The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R, on the other hand, consumes just 40 watts while printing — a savings of over 620 watts!
Of the three printers, the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R is the clear winner. It replaces four office machines with its multifunctionality, it’s fast, it has a high monthly page volume, and it produces gorgeous high resolution documents in full color. It also uses Epson Replaceable Ink Pack System, resulting in ink cost savings, reduced maintenance, and the highest page yields. In other words, you can print more than 84,000 documents before needing to replace the ink. Energy Star qualified, the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869R is the most energy efficient printer of the bunch, resulting in lower operational costs.
